Whoever receives an instrument next — a service vendor, a buyer, a recycler, or a surveyor reviewing your equipment list — needs to see the same things: that it was decontaminated, by whom, and where it went. BMCA handles the work and the paperwork.

What we decontaminate

• Cryostats — full defrost, tissue and blade waste removed, chamber and microtome disinfected, cleaning record issued; required before service, relocation, resale or disposal
• Biosafety cabinets — gaseous decontamination of the cabinet, plenums and HEPA filters by paraformaldehyde, vaporized hydrogen peroxide or chlorine dioxide, before filter replacement, relocation or disposal
• Tissue processors and stainers — reagent lines drained and flushed, formalin, xylene and alcohol removed as regulated waste, unit purged for transport
• Refrigerators, freezers and ULT — contents transferred, unit defrosted and disinfected, refrigerant handled by a certified technician on retirement

The paperwork that goes with it

• Decontamination certificate — model, serial, method, agent, date, technician signature
• Chain of custody — who removed it, when, and where it went
• Disposal, transfer or relocation record filed to your client portal with the instrument's service history

Where it goes

• Relocation to another site with reinstallation and re-verification or re-certification on arrival
• Trade-in or resale — we'll tell you what a unit is worth before you pay to haul it
• Retirement through a licensed electronics and refrigerant recycler
• Regulated waste removed and manifested through a licensed hauler
